My husband and I are new residential volunteers at the Ash Meadows Nat'l Wildlife Refuge in Amargosa, Nye County. As Arizonans, we are enjoying birding in Nevada. We would love to connect with the folks who frequently bird out in this area.
On our way back to the refuge yesterday via the West entrance (Spring Meadows Rd. from NV 373), we spotted a Northern Shrike first on the powerline and then just off the road to the south. This was approximately ½ mile west of the Ash Meadows NWR entrance kiosk. This is our second life bird since arriving in early October.
