Not a heck of a lot to report from Pyramid, I'm afraid. I started at
"The Willows" -- it was quite breezy, making it hard to see (or hear)
much, but, even considering that, I was pretty surprised to see or hear
absolutely NO birds.
Stops along the shore were generally uneventful. A single Common Loon
and an adult Herring Gull were at Sutcliff.
At the south end, the shorebird flock included five Dunlin with the
Least Sandpipers and Killdeer. Several small flocks of American Pipits
were flying around. I counted about 45.
Up the east side toward the river mouth, a gull flock had seventeen
Herring gulls, two first-cycle, one second-cycle, and fourteen adults.
With all those Herring Gulls around, I decided to check out Sparks
Marina on the way home. Lots of gulls, but I couldn't find anything
other than Californias and Ring-bills.
