The entrance to the Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve is off Galleria Drive. Take
the US95/I515 freeway to the Galleria exit 64B, go east and cross Boulder
Highway. The Preserve entrance will be on the north side of the road, follow the
driveway and signs to the parking lot and Visitors Center. The physical address

This will be my personal last report from the Bird Viewing Preserve as I will be
taking another job starting 10-20. Another staff member will continue these reports
We had Eighty(80)species observed for the week of September 29 through October 5, 2014.
We had an uncountable Rose-ringed Parakeet, no doubt escaped from someone nearby.
The following birds were seen and/or heard by staff and visitors and confirmed by staff
at the Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve east of Las Vegas:
Northern Shoveler (Numbers increasing)
Green-winged Teal (Numbers increasing)
Bufflehead (FOS males sighted on Pond 8 on 10-18)
American White Pelican (Numbers vary daily from 0 to 7)
Great Blue Heron
Virginia Rail (Heard only)
Great Horned Owl
Northern Flicker (Red-shafted)
Northern Rough-winged Swallow
Palm Warbler (Located by Dr. Pratt on 10-15-14. Following are the descriptive notes left by Dr. Pratt of his observation)
"Slender warbler, eye drawn by constant tail pumping, then by yellow crissum and breast streaking. Crissum
yellow, uppertail coverts yellowish but no bright yellow rump patch. Streaking on sides and breast unusually
strong for fall/winter, probably male in advanced late pre-basic molt. Crown gray with reddish cast, strong white
superciliary, with dark eye line."
