There wasn't anything unusual at the Swan lake boardwalk yesterday (5/26). A Northern shoveler, a mallard on a nest, and half a dozen avocets. At the sewage ponds there were many eared grebes. I located one nest and hope to get some good images when they hatch. There were a few yellow headed blackbirds but I saw no Red winged. Otherwise, the usual ducks and geese. On Friday I went up to Pyramid lake. On the north side of Washington Rock was a nest with four chicks in it. I don't know whether they're crow, raven or cormorant. I didn't see an adult bird visit the nest. The nest is on the North side of Washington Rock about forty feet up and easily visible from the ground.
