Greetings: Exploring Lander County while working in Battle Mountain for a couple months, I walked a road north of town this evening that crosses the Humboldt River. While heading back to the car which was parked near the bridge, I noticed a mass of swallows high in the sky, flying westward along the course of the river. While watching, hundreds of birds passed overhead. Most of them were Cliff Swallows, with a good number of Barn Swallows. I spotted two Bank Swallows in the flow. It was a nice sight to see, enhanced by the songs of Yellow Warblers, Common Yellowthroats and a Yellow-breasted Chat. Jeanne Tinsman
