Hello Fellow Birders,
This morning was a fabulous morning at the referenced locations and here are the highlights:
Davis Creek: 5 Black-headed Grosbeaks (4 males and 1 female), 1 Lincoln's Sparrow, 2 Golden-crowned sparrows, 2 Warbling Vireos, and the main attraction was 1 stunning male MacGillivray's Warbler (Thank you Rob!). H. Wrens and B. Wrens were singing all over the place.
Huffaker Hills Lakeview Trail: This location was surprisingly productive today. Swallows were everywhere on the lake/reservoir, but the vast vast majority were cliff swallows with like 30 barn swallows. I only saw 4 Tree Swallows and 1 Northern Rough-winged swallow. Mixed in with the swallows were 2 Black terns, 1 Caspian Tern, and 1 Forester's Tern. On the reservoir was 1 Horned Grebe, and Gadwalls, Ruddy Ducks, Avocets, Stilts, Cormorants. Also seen were 8 Horned Larks and 3 Western Kingbirds. Heard only were 2 Sage Sparrows and 1 Black-throated Sparrow.
