howdy, you all.....as us westerners like to say y'all......from the far NW corner of nevada, very near the rugged tri-state border. it's cool and breezy this saturday morning, but things are picking up nicely here at ole Rancho Recluso, bird-wise.
barn swallows (3)
mountain bluebirds (6)
mourning dove (3)
sage thrasher (1, singing a lot)
house finch (2)
cassin's finch (2)
brown-headed cowbird (2)
western wood peewee
white-crowned sparrow (2)
vesper sparrow (a few)
brewer's sparrow (100+......loads of em already)
and last night.....an insanely vocal common poorwill, very close to the house
also last night.....a hooting great horned owl
these were all seen from either the porch or the blind i have set up near the little pond.....coffee drinkin' birding at its best.......
