Some miscellaneous sightings at the referenced location this evening were as follows:
Vaux's Swift-1 mixed in with Swallow flock
Pinyon Jay-small flock of 25
Western Screech Owl-2
Western Wood Pewee-1 first of season
Wood Duck-3 pairs
Bullock's Oriole-19, including the female that I reported on earlier today that is orange and white (orange creamsicle). I was able to snap a few long distance documentation photos as she foraged with her mate just above the Mexican Dam, with a photo at this link:
She is hanging around the dam area so I hope to be able to get better photos at some point in the near future. No water is flowing in the Mexican Ditch. Not sure what is going on but any water leaking through the gate at the dam from the river into the ditch is now being diverted back into the river via a newly-installed pipe that runs under the trail just before the dam.
The parking lot for Carson River Park is off of Carson River Road just before it crosses over the Carson River in east Carson City.
