The fields in the southwest section of Carson Lake on the east side of the north-south road that takes you to the "larkspur fields" currently are flooded and loaded with Ibis, California and Ring-Billed Gulls, Ravens, and 13 Swainson's Hawks in a feeding frenzy. Trying to figure out what the Swainson's were chasing around on the ground, I parked, got out to look, and noticed crickets everywhere ( I feel one crawling up my pant leg now)! I observed this same scenario last Saturday with 77 Swainson's Hawks but presumed they were after voles. Now I know. More later if anything interesting is observed.
