Earlier today and into the evening (Sunday, April 21st), Diane McAllister, Christiane Omer, her friend Maggie, my wife Ricki, and I drove the referenced route in the Pinenut Mountains just east of Carson City and observed the following more notable birds, most of which were observed near a spring near Eldorado Canyon Rd.:
Lewis's Woodpecker-2 (a nice surprise)
Mountain Quail-heard about 8
Evening Grosbeak-4 or 5
Common Poorwill-brief glimpse at one flying up from Brunswick Canyon Road at night
Access to Brunswick Canyon Road is at the end of Sedge Road which is off of Deer Run Road in the Pinion Hills area east of Carson City, and a high-clearance vehicle is needed to drive the roads.
