The Swainson's Hawks are still present south of Boulder City. My count estimate was way off. I've been told by several people there are 400 to 500. They are usually on the ground and in the bushes until at least 10:00 am and spend the afternoons soaring. They return to roost between 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm. They appear to be feeding on the caterpillars.
Take Buchanan Blvd. past Veterans Cemetary. Where the pavement bears left just before the substation, go straight onto the dirt for 2/10 of a mile and turn right. Follow powerline road for 7/10 of a mile (35deg 55' 43"N / 114deg 51' 14"W) make a left for 1 mile. This section is soft so use caution.
