My husband Ron and I just got back from 5 days at Great Basin NP. On the advise of Greg Scyphers, from his trip last year, we followed the Alpine Lakes Loop, and found three American Three-toed Woodpeckers. We saw them Wednesday, Sept. 20, in the afternoon, just past Teresa Lake, heading back towards Wheeler Peak campground. We identified a male, a female, and one too hard to tell in the shadows. We feel very lucky, they are life birds for us, and we are grateful for the help!
