This morning September 24, 2012, I birded Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs
and found some of the continuing rarities. The NEOTROPIC CORMORANT and
Northern Parula are both still present. I also relocated yesterdays
immature BROAD-WINGED HAWK in the natural area south of the group picnic
area. I managed to get some fairly nice photos of the bird both perched and
a couple in flight. Also, the film crew is gone now so birding is a little
easier back there.
Near picnic bench #40, where all the activity usually seems to be, there was
a male LAWRENCE'S GOLDFINCH in the willow with the Wilson's Warblers. Other
birds around included five Red-breasted Nuthatches and a Belted Kingfisher.
