Oxbow Park, Reno, Washoe Co (9/10/12)
I saw my FOS Merlin this morning, feeding on a sparrow-sized passerine at the top of a tall cottonwood. The Merlin was the usual dark mantled taiga form, the prey, possibly a House Finch though I couldn't see it well enough to be sure.
Empid sps--1 (too far away to ID, but not a Gray)
The waxwings were flycatching from the tops of the cottonwoods along the river as they normally start doing around this time of the year.
Also today, a brief look at a Western-type empid (my FOS) in my backyard in NW Reno.
