Hello NV birders,
Myself and another student at University of Nevada, Reno are starting a project on the effects of urbanization on bird communities. Part of the study will be comparing species richness and abundance along the Truckee River as it passes through Reno and flows east to McCarran Ranch. We will also be studying reproduction, foraging behavior, and diet at the same sites to see why some songbird species may fare better in the city. We will be doing early morning point counts and nest searches from mid-April to mid-June and we could use some help from experienced birders or beginners looking for a chance to improve. Anyone interested in volunteering and learning more about what birds are doing in your backyard, please contact me at [log in to unmask]
Thanks and enjoy the start of migration.
