The Nevada Bird Records Committee completed reviews on another packet of
records this evening. While we're not entirely caught up, we're getting
pretty close. (Not counting the records in the newest packet, distributed
tonight, we have only 31 additional pending records.)
We've also made a reasonable start on reviewing a pile of records that
predates the committee formation (1994) as well. There is some incredibly
exciting documentation in the materials we received recently from the
Cressmans, some dating from the 1970's and earlier -- submissions like the
first Nevada records for Blue-footed Booby, Red-headed Woodpecker, Common
Ground-dove, etc. are coming up for review soon.
I have updated the NBRC website with the results of the recently completed
packet. Many of the accepted records were accompanied by nice photos, and
I've linked one photo to each such record on the web page. Go have a look!
(A number of the accepted records for this packet were not accompanied by
photos -- just a reminder that you do not need to have a photo in order to
submit a sighting. Of course, it's always nice when there are photos, but a
well-written, careful description is often sufficient for record
Spring migration is starting up. Happy birding!
