Hi Birders....I made a quick trip to Carson Lake today. T'was a bit chilly
to enjoy working the scope in the usual manner. Nonetheless, there is
water and there are birds about. Most spectacular was the presence of
1000+ Snow Geese at the south end of the complex on Sprig Pond. Several
duck species were present along with Cinnamon and Green-winged Teal.
American Pipits, Greater Yellowlegs, Red=winged blackbirds, Tree Swallows,
a couple of Rough-legged Hawks, Savannah and White-Crowned sparrows.I saw
what looked like a flight of Dowitchers in the distance but did not observe
them land. Horned Larks were moving around as well. Two White Pelicans
were on one of the ponds.
All in all, it's looking like a good birding stop on a nice spring day.
