Swan Lake NSA
Tuesday, March 10, 2009
The playa area of the Swan Lake Nature Study Area was again frozen over,
causing the sewer ponds to host the many hundreds of ducks and geese that had
been spread out over the larger area. Noticeable was the increasing numbers of
Cinnamon Teal. In what little open water they could find, there were eight
Tundra Swans in two groups, two and six.
Of note was the first Great-tailed Grackle I recall seeing this spring at
the southern Sky Vista pond.
Cheers, Bob Goodman
