Kim and I enjoyed a pleasant morning, with new birder Steve Gillispie, at the Wetlands of Winfield, the Winfield Locks, and the Putnam County Park at Eleanor. We were just giving the quick tour, but a highlight, at the Locks, 3rd pond, was a Least Sandpiper. Due to the drought, that pond has some extensive mudflats now.
I should also mention that I heard a Whip-poor-will at home, 5:20 AM, on the morning of the 4th. Then too, there is a juvenile female Kestrel in the Sycamore trees here.
