The other morning while going to work I saw crows harrassing a Great
Blue. Apparently it had the audacity to land in "their" tree. I was
expecting a hawk to appear and did a double take when it turned out to
be the heron.
Yesterday early evening we had a quick downpour. It was all over in
about 10 minutes. I happened to glance out the window and there was
the same turkey hen with her two chicks that I had seen a couple of
weeks ago. It is fascinating to watch her move and run the tall grass
through her bill stripping the seeds. She is all caution, walking the
edge of the lawn where she can disappear into the tall grass in a
The baby Cardinals and Titmice have been abundant but yesterday an
immature Red-bellied Woodpecker joined the group.
