Sandstone Falls, New River
July 13, 2007.
Allen and I were down at Sandstone Falls (below the falls at the day use area)yesterday and observed a white swallow flying with other swallows along the river. It was flying with northern rough-winged swallows. We weren't able to tell if it was an albino or leucistic. It perched on a wire across the river giving us a better look. We thought it had a pink bill and dark eyes.
There were also 5 green herons, great blue herons, (one being especially territorial), ravens, and a red-shouldered hawk. The green herons watched as a mink ate a crawdad on a rock.
