Based on my records for my west Reno yard and in the Reno area since 1996,
here's what I have for hummingbird arrivals (northbound or resident):
Black-chinned: May 1-5.
Anna's, Broad-tailed, and Calliope pass through my yard around May 15 most
years. I saw both Calliope and Rufous at Oxbow Park in west Reno on April
26 last year.
My Birds in Town column records for the past 2-3 years show that first
hummingbird sightings in northern Nevada towns have been in late April to
very early May (depending on species), with mid-April Calliope (11th) and
Costa's (16th) last year. Also, Anna's has overwintered several of the past
winters in SW Reno (reported on the Christmas Counts), and I saw a male
Anna's (possibly an overwinterer) at a feeder across the river from Oxbow
Park on March 11, 2000.
