Jane and I took another trip to the wetlands today looking for shorebirds.
Our total species count for the morning was 41.
The ponds produced nothing out of the ordinary with the exception of a
single FRANKLIN'S GULL. Still present and unable to fly were numerous young
coots, ducks and grebes.
Of interest along the lakeshore were abundant numbers of KILLDEER and within
one group we located 4 SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS. In addition, we observed at
least six SOLITARY SANDPIPERS (all seen at the same time along the
